winter retreat 2016
Drishti winter retreat 2016

Join us for Drisht's first-ever yoga retreat, Jan. 29-31, 2016: We’ll be heading south… to Frontenac, Minnesota, for a relaxing weekend of yoga, snowshoeing and gathering around the fireplace at Villa Maria Retreat Center, surrounded by the beauty of Frontenac State Park on the bluffs above the Mississippi River.

Once a convent and then a school, Villa Maria now provides a homey, down-to-earth atmosphere perfect for a low-key winter retreat. Our rooms will be in the main building, with all meals provided buffet-style in the dining hall. Yoga sessions will take place in front of the fireplace in Ursuline Hall, a spacious, light-filled octagonal building just steps from the main entrance.

On Friday, arrive any time after 4pm to check in and get settled. Dinner is at 6, followed by relaxation yoga in the evening.

On Saturday, in addition to yoga sessions, massage therapist Claire Hall will be with us all day. Claire practices Esalen massage, which uses long, slow strokes to integrate the body into a cohesive whole, a perfect complement to the dark quiet of deep winter. In the afternoon, local legend Bonnie Stang will lead us on a leisurely snowshoe hike through the trails around Villa Maria and up into the State Park. Or feel free to curl up by the fire with a book or walk the indoor labyrinth instead! After dinner, join us for a candlelight/headlamp hike, or just relax by the fire. For the adventuresome sorts, there is also a winery just down the road.
